Well it seems that little Stevie has managed once again to pull it off. Before the recent, highly important confabs, in Muskoka and Toronto, people might have been asking why on earth the rulers of the world need to get together every year to make vague statements about things they have to intention of actually doing. Sure all the G20 are going to reduce their deficits by 50%. And Angelina Jolie is going to turn to me for comfort when she and Brad finally bail on each other. Don’t hold your breath waiting for either of those things to happen.
But Stevie doesn’t like opposition so what he did was put on the greatest police deployment in the history of the country. He okayed nearly five times as many cops as they thought they needed in Pittsburgh. I suppose Stevie might really believe Toronto is five times as dangerous as Pittsburgh but I don’t think anyone else does. The result of this of course was a great deal of noise about how much it was all costing, how many cops were going to be on hand, how much was being spent on stupidities like the fake lake and the Orrville gazebo but there was virtually no opposition to the meetings over all. There was also virtually no opposition or discussion about just what they were supposed to achieve here.
Then all of a sudden lo and behold the black bloc shows up on cue. A few windows are smashed, a couple of police cars are torched and Stevie gets to smugly sit back and declare the entire billion dollar security cost was justified.
Meanwhile our mass media of course did the easy thing as they usually do. Has anyone seen any footage of what the peaceful protesters were actually saying. Has anyone seen anything substantial about the supposed benefits to the world of this latest little scmoozefest. No every story was about the violence. The black bloc who no one had heard from before has disappeared again to be seen or heard no more.
Now some people are asking for a full inquiry into the entire affair but you can bet the powers that be will be stifling that if at all possible.
Here are a few questions I’d like answered by Stevie, Dalton, and Miller.
How was it possible that with 19,000 cops at your disposal you couldn’t protect the cars that were torched? In fact why did they burn for minutes on end without anyone cop or fireman showing up.
How can you justify chief Blair lying to the people of Ontario about what the law was? Of course you might also include why the law was changed but no one informed of it?
How can you justify Blair not once but twice trying to pass off dangerous weapons as being seized during the “riot” when they were picked up in other places and other times. Will you still expect the population to support this fucktard the next time he needs information to solve a real crime?
Why were 900 plus people detained only to have most of them released without charge?
Why were people held in a pouring rainstorm for hours only to be let go after they were soaked and hypothermic?
Why were the peaceful demonstrators forced out of Queens Park where they were asked to go for their protests even though there was never any hint of violence in the area?
Meanwhile Stevie walks away laughing and goes on to escort the Queen around. I’m sure he feels secure in the knowledge that no one in the national media is actually going to dig into this fiasco in any depth at all and he has won, in deflecting any real opposition to the incredible waste of time and money. I also suspect he couldn’t care less that he has dragged the reputation of Canada another step lower on the world stage.
